Helicopter v. free-range parents: One mom wonders, can't we just get along?
Mon Mar 23, 2015
Great article - and it sounds like you are raising an independent, well-rounded, and kind son. I will likely walk my son to school when he is that age (if he wants the company) because our kids are only this close and this prominent in our lives for so long. Once he goes to college, I'll long for th …
Vin Diesel reveals his new baby's very special name, a tribute to Paul Walker

Class in America: Why Your Status Depends on Where You Live
Thu Mar 19, 2015
Took the quiz - and I'm not quite sure how it directly correlates with the story. No question on where (geographically) one is located. Isn't that the point of the story here? In Baltimore $100k income is a "higher" class than $100k income in NYC?
American Dream Home: What's the Middle Class Without a House?
Tue Mar 17, 2015
In reply to:Harbor-834246 #24 A math teacher with 3 kids - and I know from having one kid, it is not inexpensive to raise children. Now, if she wants to buy a piece of land for $300 (good luck), and build her own home like her father did, then it is hers. Buy more than you can readily afford - and i …

Female executive apologizes to 'all the mothers I worked with' in powerful essay
Tue Mar 3, 2015
In reply to:Irisheyes100982 #8 Wow. I'm a mom now, but even when I wasn't (and I was single until my mid-30s, had my son shortly after getting married), I never once felt "put upon" because I was single or childless. I also don't expect my colleagues to pick up any slack (because I don't leave slack …

Parents hand out goody bags to apologize in advance for baby on flight
Sat Dec 20, 2014
I love this! We took our son on his first flight (international no less) when he was 11 months old. A short domestic leg brought us compliments for his cheerful disposition and quiet travel status. The international leg (9 hours) brought shock and awe as people exited the plane having no idea there …
Why this 'car seat cop' mom wants to save your child's life
Mon Dec 8, 2014
While I am glad she is bringing attention to this issue - I am shocked at how little common sense apparently some people have. Looking at that photo of her child in the car seat was gut-wrenching to me as a mother of a 2.5 year old. WHY would you think the way that child was in the car seat (which w …
Mom dies during childbirth to save 'miracle' baby's life
Tue Nov 25, 2014
Prayers to this family - they will need a lot of love and support to heal from this tragedy. It is always so very sad to hear stories about a loss of life (mother's or child's) during childborth, which is supposed to mark the beginning of life - not the end.
